The adventure will combine a day of trekking, two days of rafting and two days of cycling, with the young people following a route that crosses a number of historical and naturally significant areas, with the objective of promoting a culture centred on sustainable tourism and open-air activities. Following the pattern of previous years, it is hoped that those involved will develop a deep love of the outdoors and continue to explore nature independently after the initiative concludes.
The SMaC team will document the experience through a dedicated website, and promote what they are doing and the wider #itsgreatoutthere message through social media. We look forward to finding out how the young people get on during their adventure and sharing some of that on this website and through our own social media channels.
